In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge the historical and contemporary Treaty 7 territory and languages of the Blackfoot Confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Stoney Nakoda of Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley First Nations, and the Dene of Tsuut’ina First Nation. We further acknowledge that we are all treaty people with a responsibility to remain true to the nature and intent of the treaties. The City of Calgary, Moh'kinsstis, is homeland to the historic Northwest Metis and to Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3, and we also recognize the many Indigenous communities that have been forged in urban centres across Alberta. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations —  Indigenous and non — who live, work and play on this land, and whose collective duty it is to honour, celebrate and protect the heritage, present day needs, and future of this territory.
