In a spirit of reciprocity, truth, and reconciliation, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, now known as the city of Calgary, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and the cultures and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Stoney Nakoda Nations: Chiniki, Bearspaw, Goodstoney and Tsuut’ina Nation. These peoples are the traditional stewards of the lands and waters of this area of Turtle Island.

We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Otipemisiwak Métis Government of the Métis Nation within Alberta Districts 5 and 6.

We acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past as well as the joint responsibility of people from all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land now to honour and celebrate this territory in its past, present, and future realities.

 

May we tread gently and prayerfully together on this land, seeking renewed relationship based on honour, respect and peace.
